Consolidation ("repack") is the service that allows you to save on shipping charges. We take the content of the packages and put them in a single box that is as small and safe as possible, this makes sense to have the goods delivered to your international destination in a box that is as small as possible.
Many retailers in the USA incur small domestic charges when they ship within the USA. Therefore, most of them ship their goods in boxes that are sometimes twice or three times bigger than the content they carry inside.
When it comes to international shipments, however, the shipping charges are calculated by the weight, actual or dimensional - whichever is greater (the chargeable weight). For example: the actual weight of a package is 15KG and the dimensional weight is 25KG the chargeable weight will be 25KG. To learn more about how the dimensional weight is calculated, please check our FAQ section.
In a nutshell: we might say that, in general, the smaller the box, the closer the actual weight is to the dimensional weight and the cheaper the shipping charges will be.
When we receive your repack request, we retrieve your packages and double-check that we have the correct ones. All outside boxes are then thrown away, we only keep the retail packaging, in that case the package becomes smaller and lighter. After this, we put the goods in a box that is as small as possible.
Exceptions
We can make two exceptions to the process:
Keep outside box (we will consolidate the box as received)
Remove all unnecessary retail packaging (example: the shoe box is thrown away, only the shoes are packed)
If you need a special service, please send us a message and we will perform the repack the way you like.
Can you consolidate (or repack) fragile items?
If you are concerned that fragile items might break in transit, please place a special request so we can add extra packaging material or keep fragile items in their original boxes (for extra layer of protection). Please send us a message with your request and we will take care of that.
The consolidation (or repack) is a value added service and we charge a small fee. Moreover, the fee is usually balanced off by the savings in shipping charges. The fee is determined by the number of packages and the weight and you will be quoted when you book the repack.
We strive to process all consolidation requests on the same day if you request a repack before 1.00 PM EST. register now and start bundling and saving on shipping charges from the USA
